Mark Raper

President, Jesuit Conference of East Asia and Oceania

Mark Raper is since 2008 the president of the Jesuit Conference of East Asia and Oceania with an office based at the Ateneo de Manila University. Previously he was provincial of the Australian Jesuits and president of Catholic Religious Australia. He spent 20 years in the service of refugees, first in Asia, based in Thailand, and then in Italy as international director of Jesuit Refugee Service, an organization with programs in some 60 countries. In 2001, he held a visiting chair at the Center for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown University. His studies were in the politics and history of Southeast Asia.
