Brendan R. McGuire is partner at WilmerHale after serving as an assistant United States attorney for the Southern District of New York within the terrorism and national security unit.
As an assistant U.S. attorney within the terrorism and national security unit, he was the lead prosecutor for some of the most significant terrorism prosecutions within the Department of Justice. These cases include the prosecution of Russian arms trafficker Viktor Bout for conspiring to kill Americans; the prosecution of Faisal Shahzad for the May 2010 attempted bombing of Times Square; the prosecution of a Somali pirate for the hijacking of an American container ship in the Indian Ocean; and the prosecution of Syrian arms trafficker Monzer al Kassar for conspiring to kill Americans. For the past two years, McGuire has served as the chief of the public corruption unit within the U.S. Attorney's Office, which investigates and prosecutes public officials in federal, state, and city government.
Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, McGuire served as a law clerk to the Honorable Peter K. Leisure of the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York, and prior to his clerkship, he was associated with two New York law firms.
McGuire currently sits on the board of trustees of Regis High School.
