Niall Ferguson is Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University. He is the author of several books, including The War of the World: Twentieth-Century Conflict and the Descent of the West, and the bestselling Empire and Colossus: The Rise and Fall of the American Empire.
Time magazine named Ferguson as one of the 100 most influential figures of 2004.
