Ziad Haider is senior associate (non-resident) and Simon Chair in Political Economy at Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Previously, Haider was special representative for commercial and business affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He also served as a senior adviser for international economic affairs on the Policy Planning Staff in the Office of the Secretary of State; a White House fellow in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice; a foreign policy aide in the U.S. Senate; and professional staff on the House Committee on Homeland Security. Haider was also an attorney at White & Case LLP.

His writing has appeared in CNN, CNBC, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, and the Financial Times.
