Zhao Zhong is the founder and former director of Green Camel Bell (GCB), a grassroots environmental NGO in Northwest China. Between 2004 and 2011, he and his colleagues conducted a range of programs and projects focusing on environmental education, water pollution monitoring, eco-agriculture, wetlands conservation, disaster management, and volunteer development.

Since September 2012, Zhao has worked as China program coordinator for Pacific Environment, where he supports and mentors environmental NGOs across China. He believes that while each person is only able to make a small change individually, the combination of efforts can make a big difference collectively.
