Mira Kamdar is an author and a former member of The New York Times editorial board.

Kamdar has also been a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute and an associate fellow at the Asia Society in New York. In addition, she is a former contributing editor to The Caravan magazine and she wrote a column for French newspaper Courrier International from 2009 to 2014. Kamdar has also taught at the École de Journalisme at Sciences Po in Paris.

Kamdar is the author of India in the 21st Century: What Everyone Needs to Know, Planet India: the Turbulent Rise of the Largest Democracy, and Motiba’s Tattoos: A Granddaughter’s Journey Into her Indian Family’s Past. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Times of India, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune, among other publications.
