Kate Brown is a professor history at University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Brown is the author of A Biography of No Place: From Ethnic Borderland to Soviet Heartland and Plutopia: Nuclear Families in Atomic Cities and the Great Soviet and American Plutonium Disasters. She has also published articles in American Historical Review, Chronicle of Higher Education, Harper’s online edition, Slate, and the Times Literary Supplement.
Brown is a recipient of the 2016-2017 Carnegie Foundation Fellowship and, in 2017, the Berlin Prize at the American Academy in Berlin. She was also a fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, in fall 2016.
