Elmira Bayrasli

Elmira Bayrasli is a visiting fellow at the New America Foundation and a lecturer at New York University.

Previously, Bayrasli was the chief spokesperson for the OSCE Mission in Sarajevo. From 1994 to 2000, she was presidential appointee at the U.S. State Department, working for Madeleine Albright and Richard Holbrooke, respectively.

In 2013, Bayrasli co-founded Foreign Policy Interrupted, an education and media start-up dedicated to increasing female foreign policy voices in the written and electronic press.

Bayrasli has written about entrepreneurship and foreign policy for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, Reuters, TechCrunch, and VentureBeat. She is the author of From the Other Side of the World: Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Unlikely Places.
