Daniel E. Esser is associate professor at the School of International Service at American University. He previously taught at Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chulalongkorn University, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
A former staff member of the United Nations Secretariat and the United Nations Development Programme, Esser has also worked as a consultant to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the International Labour Organization, and the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
His research has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics, Environment & Urbanization, and Gesellschaft Wirtschaft Politik. Additional articles are forthcoming in Critical Planning and World Development. He is currently finishing a book manuscript on urban resilience in zones of armed conflict.
