Andreas Umland

National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy," Ukraine

Andreas Umland is DAAD associate professor of European studies in the department of political science at the National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" in Ukraine.

A native of Germany, Umland was previously a visiting fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution, from 1997 to 1999, and Harvard’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, from 2001 to 2002. He has been a lecturer at Ural State University in Russia, from 1999 to 2001; Kiev’s Mohyla Academy, from 2003 to 2005; St. Antony's College, Oxford, in 2004; and Kyiv Shevchenko University, from 2005 to 2008.

Umland has been been general editor of the book series "Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society" since 2004. He edited The Nature of Russian "Neo-Eurasianism:" Approaches to Aleksandr Dugin's Post-Soviet Movement of Radical Anti-Americanism and Theorizing Post-Soviet Russia's Extreme Right: Comparative Political, Historical and Sociological Approaches.
