Adam Kochanski is a Ph.D. candidate in political studies at the University of Ottawa. His dissertation examines how and why domestic political factors influence the use of local transitional justice mechanisms in the aftermath of civil war. His fields of interest are international relations, global governance, peace studies, and qualitative research methods.

Kochanski has completed field research in Cambodia and Mozambique, where he has conducted interviews, multi-sited non-participant observation, and document analysis. This research has been supported by grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, International Development Research Center, and Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program.

He holds an MA  in political science from the University of Western Ontario and a BA from York University, Glendon College. He is a past graduate of the 2013 Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (IQMR) held at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

Specialization: Transitional justice, norms in world politics, post-conflict peacebuilding.
