Vladimir Benevolenski is president and CEO of the Moscow Public Science Foundation, an NGO focused on strengthening civil society, democracy, and the rule of law in Russia. He is also a lead research fellow at the Center for Civil Society and Nonprofit Sector Studies in Moscow.
His research focuses primarily on international comparative studies of the nonprofit sector, the Russian government policy environment for civil society organizations, and philanthropic practices in Russia.
Previously, Benevolenski was a research fellow with the Institute for USA and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow and a visiting scholar at Columbia and Harvard University.
Benevolenski received his Ph.D. from the Institute for USA and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, and his B.A. from Moscow State University.
