Patrick Macklem

Patrick Macklem
Patrick Macklem is the William C. Graham Professor of Law at the University of Toronto. In 2007–08 he was a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. His research and teaching interests lie in legal and political theory, international law, constitutional law, and human rights.


In addition to numerous articles on these topics, he is the author of Indigenous Difference and the Constitution of Canada (2001), awarded the Canadian Political Science Association Donald Smiley Prize for best book on Canadian governance and the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences Harold Innis Prize for the best English-language book in the social sciences, and coeditor of The Security of Freedom: Essays on Canada’s Anti-Terrorism Bill (2001). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
