Sir Lawrence Freedman is professor of war studies and vice-principal, strategy & development at King's College London.
Before joining King's College, Freedman held research appointments at Nuffield College Oxford, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London, and the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London. Elected a fellow of the British Academy in 1995, he was appointed official historian of the Falklands Campaign in 1997.
Freedman became professor of war studies at King's College in 1982. In 2002, he became head of the School of Social Sciences and Public Policy at King's College.
Freedman's books include The official history of the Falklands Campaign, A Choice of Enemies: America Confronts the Middle East, and Strategy: A History.
