Ian Martin

Ian Martin is the personal representative of the United Nations secretary-general in Nepal for support to the peace process. He was previously representative in Nepal of the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, May 2005-August 2006.

Martin has over 30 years of experience in the field of human rights, both with non-governmental organizations and as a representative of the United Nations. He served as the secretary general of Amnesty International from 1986-1982. He has held top positions in UN operations in Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, East Timor, Ethiopia and Eritrea.
