Jeffrey Broadbent is professor in the department of sociology and Institute of Global Studies, University of Minnesota.
His research primarily concerns the general factors affecting the formation and effectiveness of national environmental policies. The major theoretical focus has concerned the effects of institutions, networks and culture upon the policy-making process. With Japan as his major case study, Jeff has conducted lengthy field work on environmental protest movements and politics in local communities and at the prefectural level, as well as policy-network surveys of national political processes concerning labor and more recently climate change issues.
