Stephanie Collins

Ethics Fellow for the Future Alumna; Australian National University

Stephanie Collins is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Philosophy and Centre for Moral, Social, and Political Theory at the Australian National University.

She works broadly within moral and political philosophy, but most particularly on obligations that arise in virtue of being best-placed to fulfil someone's vital interests. Her thesis touches on a range of issues, including basic needs (rights, capabilities), associative duties, the moral status of personal relationships, collective responsibility, duties to non-compatriots, and state sovereignty.

Her work has appeared in The Australasian Journal of Philosophy and Ethical Theory and Moral Practice. She has written a monograph giving an analytically minded introduction to the ethics of care, which is under contract to Palgrave Macmillan.

Appointed by Global Ethics Fellow Christian Barry, Australian National University.
