George R. Lucas, Jr., is professor of philosophy, distinguished chair in ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, Maryland), and professor of ethics and public policy at the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, California). His most recent book is Anthropologists in Arms: The Ethics of Military Anthropology(2009).
