Gennady Burbulis

Former First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

Gennady Burbulis was a Russian politician with close ties to Boris Yeltsin. He was first deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation from 1991-1992 and was appointed as State Secretary in 1992. Burbulis is known for having led many economic and social reforms in newly democratic Russia. He was one of the drafters and signers of the Belavezha Accords, which declared the Soviet Union effectively dissolved. In August 2009, he founded the School of Politosophy and is president of the Youth Forum of Modernizers, "My Russia."
