Bio

Commander Erin A. McAvoy commands the New York Military Entrance Processing Station for the U.S. Navy. In June 2007, McAvoy was assigned to Chief of Naval Operations Staff Analyst in Washington, D.C., as Head, Military Personnel, Navy, and Reserve Personnel, Navy Programs.

She was assigned to Great Lakes, Illinois in July 1999 as a Recruit Training Command Ship's Officer. She was selected as Aide to the Commander, Naval Service Training Command in October 2001 and completed an Individual Augmentation assignment as the Recruiting Officer for the Iraqi Army, Coalition Provisional Authority, Baghdad, Iraq. In November 2004, she established the Human Performance Center Detachment at Great Lakes. She reported to Navy Operational Support Center, Fort Schuyler, N.Y., as the Executive Officer in February 2005.

McAvoy's professional military education includes a Master of Strategic Studies Degree from the United States Naval War College. She also earned a Master of Business Administration Degree with Honors, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va.

Her awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, six Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and several unit awards.
