David A. Crocker is senior research scholar at the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy and the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland. He specializes in social theory, development ethics, transitional justice, democratization, and the ethics of consumption.

His books include Praxis and Democratic Socialism: The Critical Social Theory of Markovic and Stojanovic (1983), Ethics of Consumption: The Good Life, Justice, and Global Stewardship (edited with Toby Linden, 1998), and Ethics of Global Development: Agency, Capability, and Deliberative Democracy (2008).
