Muqaddas Pulotova is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She was awarded a Scholarship Programs Doctoral Fellowship from the Open Society Institute. Her areas of interests include international migration in the post-Soviet space, nationalism, identity construction, mass communication, and ideology.
Pulotova has held administrative and consultant positions in projects funded by international development organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, United Nations, World Bank, USAID, and the European Commission. She was a director of the National Accounting Teachers Association in Tajikistan, helping local teachers’ associations in fostering institutional development. Pulotova was also a visiting scholar at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999.
