Captain Albert Vallejos is the Southwest Outreach Officer within the Directorate of Admissions for the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.
Vallejos is one of five United States Army Officers selected for the 2011–2012 school year to help increase the under-represented minority population at West Point. Outreach Officers visit high schools and junior high schools across the country to provide information and assistance to prospective West Point Candidates. His concentration is in the Southwest region of the United States.
In addition, he serves as Hispanic Liaison for the West Point admissions office for all Hispanic nationwide events. The role also includes maintaining relationships with all major Hispanic Organizations nationwide who choose to foster a relationship with the academy. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico also falls within his recruiting area.
In January of 2009 Vallejos was deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq and served as Maneuver Platoon Leader. He also served as Fire Support Officer in Taji, Iraq. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
