Bio

Victor Elías is a law student at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. Starting in September 2015, he will attend the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain as a visiting JD.

Since 2013 he is a legal adviser at the Office of the Ombudsman of the City of Buenos Aires, where he participates in the claims raised against the local government concerning poverty and housing issues. Previously, between 2011 and 2013, Elías was an intern at UBA Library, under the scholarships program of that institution. During that period he was also a member of the editorial board of Lecciones y Ensayos, a UBA student run law journal. He is also a teaching assistant of the courses Sources of International Law and Public International Law at the same university.

For the last three years he has been involved in research projects regarding international humanitarian and criminal law and human rights. He is the author of a book chapter and several presentations on issues related to his research. In 2009 he participated as Rapporteur of the Committee on Human Rights in the first Global Model United Nations, organized by the United Nation Department of Public Information in Geneva, Switzerland. Further, Elías was a member of the teams that represented the UBA in the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition in 2014 (reaching the international semifinals) and at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2015.
