Bio
Marcos Kotlik graduated in 2011 as a lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. He is an MA candidate in international relations (2013-2014) and he holds a research scholarship at UBA, focusing on international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
Currently he is a consultant in human rights issues and for the research office of the UBA School of Law, where he is also an assistant professor of the courses ""International Subjects and Jurisdictions"" and ""International Humanitarian Law."" He has been a guest lecturer at the San Carlos University in Guatemala and at the University of Chile. In 2011 he was a visiting JD at Columbia Law School in New York.
Between 2010 and 2013, Kotlik worked for the Center for Legal and Social Studies, a non-governmental organization, participating in the preparation and litigation of cases before the Inter-American Human Rights Court and Commission, as well as in criminal cases before national courts concerning crimes against humanity during the last military dictatorship.
He has published several papers and book chapters on issues related to his research. In 2012 he won the Second Annual Writing Competition organized by American University, Washington College of Law, and the American Society of International Law’s Lieber Society on the Law of Armed Conflict.
In 2009, Kotlik was part of the team representing UBA in the Jean Pictet Competition on international humanitarian law, reaching the international finals. He was a tutor for the same competition in 2014 and a jury for the national and international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2012.
