Hatsue Shinohara is professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Waseda University, Tokyo.
Shinohara specializes in the field of International Relations, covering a broad range of topics such as collective memory, theory of IR, and norm development as well as taking an interdisciplinary approach combining law, politics, and history. In particular she is interested in if and how a liberal transformation of inter-state system has taken place. She holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago.
Her most recent work will be published this coming September with the title of US International Lawyers in the Interwar Years: A Forgotten Crusade that narrates the story of legal intellectuals who strove to establish an institutional framework to renounce war as national policy.
