Bio

Landon K. Thorne is managing director of Midas Advisory Group, Inc., and managing member of Millennium Real Estate Group, LLC, a Beaufort, SC based consulting and financing consortium. He owned and operated one of the earliest and largest franchise groups of Blockbuster Video, selling the system to Viacom in 1995. In 1996, Thorne was cast as the on-camera business advisor to the roommates of MTV’s hit show The Real World wherein his ability to challenge and communicate with Generation X contributed to the 1996/97 episodes’ receiving the highest viewer ratings in the series’ then 5-year history.

He is a graduate of Yale University and a recently retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Thorne is a veteran of Vietnam and was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. In 1995, he took a three-month sabbatical from business to command the U.S. Department of Defense’s first and prototypical Humanitarian De-mining Operation in East Africa. He was again mobilized after September 11, 2001 to serve with U.S. Central Command in Operation Enduring Freedom against Taliban/Al-Qaeda sponsored terrorism. Thorne has held seats on the boards of numerous businesses, governmental, and charitable institutions. He is a sought after speaker and op-ed writer on topics related to international policy and business. He is a published author, poet, and photographer.
