Julie Nelson is senior research associate with the Global Development and Environment Institute, Tufts University and professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Her writings on household behavior and on feminist theory have appeared in many leading journals, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Perspectives, and Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society. She is the author of Feminism, Objectivity, and Economics (1996) and Economics for Humans (forthcoming 2006); and coeditor of Beyond Economic Man (1993) and Feminist Economics Today (2003). She received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1986 and has served at institutions including the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, University of California-Davis, Brandeis University, and Harvard University.
