Next-Gen Junior Research Intern (Summer 2025, Remote)

Work with Carnegie Council

Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs is seeking a Next-Gen Junior Research Intern for Summer 2025 with the Programs and Partnerships office. This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively on Carnegie Council’s Next Generation Leadership initiative. Candidates will be interviewed and selected on their ability to work on various communications, research, and administrative projects with steady coordination with Carnegie Council staff. The expected start date is June 9, 2025, and the internship will conclude on August 22, 2025. This position is virtual.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in research to scope and identify thematic areas for the development of our Next Generation Leadership curriculum
  • Research colleges, universities, and educational institutions working on ethics in international affairs
  • Collaborate on researching and archiving our Worldview magazine
  • Provide research for speaker series
  • Assist with the drafting of reports, impact statements, and letters of inquiry
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Respond to correspondences in a timely manner
  • Commit to 12-15 hours a week; work schedule is flexible, but position requires regular check-in with manager

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Outstanding professional judgement, discretion, and demeanor
  • Ability to work in a remote, asynchronous environment
  • Strong research skills preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working with online platforms, such as: Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Prior experience working in a nonprofit, think tank, or academic institution preferred, but not required

Compensation:

Internships are unpaid but a small stipend is provided at the end of the term up to $500.
