"I just couldn't conceive of a battlefield now without contractors," says Olson, who was a Major General in the U.S. army and is now an independent defense contractor. He discusses the effect of contractors on the military profession, accountability issues, and the roles contractors play.

This is one of a series of interviews that took place at the April 2009 McCain Conference, held at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership, U.S. Naval Academy.
