Steven Pinker is Harvard College Professor and Johnstone Family Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University.

From 1982 until 2003, Pinker taught at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), eventually becoming director of MIT's Center for Cognititve Neuroscience. He became Johnstone Family Professor at Harvard in 2008.

Pinker's books include The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined, The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature, and The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature. In addition, his writing has appeared in The New York Times, Time, The New Republic, and other publications.
