Stephen Mills collaborated on the joint Sierra Club/Amnesty International campaign to "defend environmental defenders." Mills is the director of the Sierra Club's International Program. In 1993, he developed the organization's groundbreaking Human Rights and the Environment Campaign. Two years later, he was recognized by the United Nations Association for his "outstanding contributions to human rights."
