Stephen Kinzer

Stephen Kinzer
Stephen Kinzer is a former New York Times foreign correspondent who has covered more than 50 countries on five continents. He currently teaches journalism and United States foreign policy at Northwestern University.

During the 1980s he covered revolution and social upheaval in Central America. In 1990, he was promoted to bureau chief of the Berlin bureau and covered the growth of Eastern and Central Europe as they emerged from Soviet rule. He was also New York Times bureau chief in Istanbul from 1996 to 2000.

His books include Reset: Iran, Turkey, and America's Future (2010); A Thousand Hills: Rwanda's Rebirth and the Man Who Dreamed It (2008); and Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq (2006).
