Rajeswari Kanniah

Bio

Rajeswari Kanniah is head of Consumers International, Asia Pacific Office. She co-founded the first public interest law practice in Malaysia and practiced law for six years. During that time, she also served as the legal adviser to the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) and Sahabat Alam Malaysia (Friends of the Earth Malaysia), and was involved in the inception of the Third World Network.

Kanniah has served as the dean of the School of Law, University College. She has written widely on consumer, environmental and human rights issues, and was awarded the Asian Public Intellectual Senior Fellowship by the Nippon Foundation in 2003.
