Pratap Bhanu Mehta

Pratap Bhanu Mehta is professor of philosophy, law and governance at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.

He has published widely on the history of political thought, contemporary political philosophy, constitutional law, and politics in India. He is the author, most recently, of The Burdens of Democracy (2003), and co-editor of India’s Public Institutions and The Oxford India Companion to Politics in India, both forthcoming from Oxford University Press. He is also a regular columnist for three of India’s largest newspapers. His current projects include a book, tentatively titled The Idea of Constitutionalism.
