Peter Bauer

Peter T. Bauer (1915-2002) is best known for his opposition to the widely-held notion that the most effective way to help developing countries advance is through state-controlled foreign aid.

His books include From Subsistence to Exchange (2000); The Development Frontier (1991); and Reality and Rhetoric (1984).
