Martin Schönteich is a senior researcher in the Crime and Justice Program at the
Institute for Security Studies (ISS) in Pretoria, South Africa. Before joining ISS, Schonteich was a public prosecutor with the Department of Justice. For two years he managed the South African Institute of Race Relations' parlimentary affairs office, where he undertook policy-related research on the criminal justice system.
