Kate Macdonald is lecturer in the school of social and political sciences at the University of Melbourne.

Her previous positions include fellow of government (global politics) at the London School of Economics and Political Science, research fellow at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the Australian National University, and research officer at the department of politics and international relations at Oxford University.
