Prior to USAID, he worked for eleven years as senior Africa policy analyst at the U.S. Committee for Refugees in Washington, D.C., traveling extensively to analyze refugee and population displacement situations throughout Africa. He has also worked as a journalist and magazine editor covering international political and development issues, and served three years as a legislative aide in the U.S. Senate.
