Description

The crisis in Yemen continues to worsen, pitting the Saudi-led Gulf countries against Shiite rival Iran—with the United States supporting the Saudi coalition.

How can this dire situation be resolved? What does this conflict mean long-term for the Middle East and, indeed, the United States?

Bernard Haykel is professor of Near Eastern studies at Princeton University and director of the Institute for Transregional Study of the Contemporary Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.
