Japan 1941: Countdown to Infamy

Students free of charge

Thursday, December 5, 2013 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

Description

Why did Japan recklessly attack the United States in 1941, launching a war that most of the nation's leaders knew they were almost certain to lose? Why did they go ahead, despite heated internal debates? What role did egomaniacal foreign minister Matsuoka Yosuke play in Japan's war planning? And what were the motivations of Emperor Hirohito and General Hideki Tojo in the days leading up to Pearl Harbor?

Get the inside story from a Japanese perspective. It may change your view of the war forever.
