As the crisis facing the United States and the world with respect to Iran continues to escalate, can a diplomatic solution be found?
The stakes here are truly monumental: the threat of attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, the prospect of Iran's military retaliation, the closing of the Straits of Hormuz, or the suspension of oil supply from Iran to Europe are all real possibilities.
Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering will elaborate and engage in discussion on the need for diplomatic over military engagement with Iran.
Ambassador Pickering is a retired U.S. ambassador. During a four decade-long career in Foreign Service, he served as ambassador to Russia, India, the United Nations, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, and Jordan. Pickering holds the distinction of Career Ambassador, the highest in the U.S. Foreign Service.
