Jonathan E. Colby is managing director at the Carlyle Group in Washington, D.C. Prior to this, he was senior managing director at Equinox Management Services in New York and a member of the board of directors of Equinox Group Holdings Ltd. He was also a general partner of the Blackstone Group, where he was responsible for the firm's financial advisory business in Asia, initially in Tokyo and then Hong Kong. From 1980 to 1989 he was head of Asian M & A The First Boston Corporation, and resident senior attorney in the Singapore office of Coudert Brothers 1979-80.

Colby also served in the Nixon Administration as staff assistant (foreign affairs) on the National Security Council under the direction of Henry A. Kissinger. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
