Vladimir B. Benevolenski

Vladimir B. Benevolenski is president (CEO) of the Moscow Public Science Foundation, a post he has held since 2001.

He is also the lead research fellow at the Center for Civil Society and Nonprofit Sector Studies, National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE, Moscow). Benevolenski's research focus includes international comparative studies of the nonprofit sector, policy studies/Russian government policy environment for civil society organizations, and analysis of philanthropic practices in Russia.

From 1997-2001, Benevolenski was vice-president, director of projects, with the Moscow Public Science Foundation. He was assistant director at the Institute for U.S.A. and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow from 1994-1996.

His publications as co-author include the HSE Analytical Report, "Stimulating Participation of NGOs in the Development of the Social Sphere and in the Provision of Social Services in Russia," (2008) prepared for the Ministry of Economic Development and the pioneering study, "Russia's Potential for Philanthropy in Global Perspective" (2010).
